The Nifty 50 is NSE India’s broad market Index of equity stocks belonging to the Largecap Companies in India. NIFTY 50 is the primary Index of the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. (NSE). The Nifty 50 Index is the most renowned barometer of Indian securities. It represents the movement of a portfolio of blue-chip companies of the Indian Securities Market. It includes the Top 50 of all companies listed and traded on the NSE.
It is a Broad Market Index. It approximately covers two-thirds of all companies’ overall market capitalization. It reflects the performance of the Indian Stock Market in the true sense. The Nifty 50 consists of 50 companies selected from the universe of NIFTY 100 based on free-float market capitalization. The Index considers stocks of liquid companies having an average impact cost of 0.50% or less. Additionally, the constituents should have derivative contracts available on NSE.
